The FiReP® SUNTHREAD are used as the main construction mate- rial (approximately 90% of the structure is FRP).FiReP® SUNTHREAD are made of highly corrosion resistant material and they are resistant to environmental effects (such as weather, UV radiation and chemical substances). They offer high strength (~ 1000 MPa in tension), temperature resistance, light weight (~ 2.5 kg/dm3) and have a low ductility (< 4%).
The unique and new generation technology of the all- thread FiReP® SUNTHREAD allows for the reinforcement to be pre-stressed. Until recently this technology was only available with fully threaded steel bars.
The environmental impact of the manufacturing process of the FiReP FRP rods is only about 40% of alternative materials such as steel and aluminium with respect to the release of CO2 to the atmosphere. This makes the “green” solar energy just a little bit more eco-friendly.
